A vacation in the Dominican Republic just isn’t complete without some time dedicated to the water. And while relaxing on the shores of the beautiful Caribbean beaches is an absolute must, there are plenty of additional ways to enjoy the water.

At Casa de Campo, the warm, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Chavón River are your playgrounds. And from the thrill of deep-sea fishing, to the serenity of kayaking through the countryside, to exploring a world beneath the waves while snorkeling, you’ll love what the sea has to offer.

Discover 6 water sports to try at Casa de Campo:

1) Reel in trophy fish on a fishing expedition.

The warm waters of the Caribbean are swimming with sea life, and Casa de Campo is the perfect hub for a day of sport fishing with friends and family.

Head out on a half or full-day fishing excursion where you’ll reel in trophy fish like wahoo, kingfish, sailfish, barracuda, and perhaps the most famous species of all — the blue marlin.

2) Paddle the beautiful Dominican waters in your own kayak.

With both the Caribbean Sea and the Chavón River at our doorstep, kayakers have plenty of places to hit the water and explore.

Paddle just off Minitas Beach for spectacular seaside views and to catch a glimpse of some of the creatures that call these waters home. Or, journey up the Chavón River and take in the natural beauty of the vast countryside, complete with fantastic views of Altos de Chavón.

We offer both single and double kayaks, perfect for accommodating novice and expert paddlers on these wonderful waters.

3) Go snorkeling to discover a world beneath the waves.

The Caribbean Sea is full of fascinating sea life visitors can observe and explore.

Snorkel in the calm, sheltered waters off Minitas Beach, or venture further offshore on an excursion to explore the nearby islands of Catalina and Saona. No matter where you decide to explore, the crystal clear waters and colorful reefs are sure to impress!

4) Sail beautiful Caribbean waters.

There’s nothing better than feeling the fresh air off the sea. At Casa de Campo, we invite you to experience the thrill of being on the water and having the wind in your sails.

Skip across the sea on a 13-foot Hobie Wave catamaran from Minitas Beach. You’ll be happy you did!

5) Hit the water for an afternoon of paddle surfing!

An ancient sporting tradition first started by the Polynesian people in the warm waters of Hawaii, paddle surfing is a challenging activity where surfers stand on their board and use a paddle to move through the water.

We welcome you to test your balance and strength and feel the rush of moving through the warm Caribbean Sea with a paddle surfing adventure of your own!

6) Head out on a boat or yacht excursion.

At Casa de Campo, you can enjoy the wonders of the water via boat! Rent a boat or a yacht, and make your way to the beautiful Catalina Island nearby, or the unforgettable Palmilla Beach on Saona Island where you’ll swim, snorkel, or take in a stunning sunset.

Boats are available for half and whole day excursions, and can be rented by the Water Sports and Concierge departments. Beverages and towels are included with boat rentals.
