Altos de Chavón Hosts Karate Combat 41, Featuring Bantamweight Title Fight

Karate Combat, the world’s first full contact Karate league, held its 41st event at Casa de Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic on September 16th, 2023. The event was hosted at Altos de Chavón, a 16th-century Mediterranean-style village with a Greek amphitheater. The main event featured bantamweight champion Eoghan Chelmiah from Ireland defending his title against ‘The King’ Myrza-Bek Tebuev from Russia. Chelmiah had previously defended his title twice in the Karate Combat Pit and he was ready to defend his title in the Dominican Republic. Tebuev, stepping in the pit following a two-fight winning streak, took his shot at the KC gold in his first five-round fight. The fight card also marked the promotional debut of former UFC fighter Sam Alvey, who faced Brazilian karateka Adam Rosa in a heavyweight bout (KC’s heavyweight division is 205-pounds). Alvey had 24 fights in the UFC and had recently won a fight on the Georgia regional circuit.

The results of the main card were as follows:

Myrza-Bek Tebuev def. Eoghan Chelmiah by KO in round 1: Bantamweight Title

Tim Ha def. Deivis Ferreras by KO in round 1: Lightweight

Antônio Arroyo def. Reynaldo Acevedo by KO in round 2: Heavyweight
