FAMILY TRAVEL FAQS

What family activities can we do?

Depending on the ages of the people who come to Casa de Campo, there are many activities to enjoy as a family. You can go horseback riding, spend the day at Minitas Beach and enjoy non-motorized water sports, or take a catamaran to Catalina Island and snorkel in the deep blue waters. They can take a lesson with any of our experienced sports instructors, participate in a pottery class, or take excursions to Santo Domingo and tourist attractions. We also offer half-day or full-day supervised programs designed specifically for our youngest guests.

How far in advance should we book family activities?

We recommend booking your activities at least 24 hours in advance; however, we always seek to have options.

Are there any restrictions on the number of participants for certain activities?

Some activities do have a minimum and/or maximum number of participants; off-property activities require at least 2-4 guests. You can also choose to carry out a certain activity privately, assuming the cost that varies by type of activity.

Are there any educational or cultural activities for families?

Yes! Altos de Chavón, located in Casa de Campo, is a cultural center for residents, tourists, and working artists from all over the world. Active studios for artists of every medium, from pottery to weaving, silk screening, and everything in between, line the cobblestone streets alongside shops and boutiques showcasing their unique creations. The Art Gallery features works from noted Dominican artists, as well as artists from around the world which helps foster a dialogue of creativity and cultural exchange. Other sites include an archaeological museum offering a glimpse into the fascinating history of the area, the St. Stanislaus Church, a 5,000-seat amphitheater, and sweeping views of the Chavón River and the Caribbean Sea.

Is there a minimum or maximum age limit for specific activities?

This depends on the activity, since there are many aspects to consider. For example, horseback riding is an excellent family activity because children 4-6 years can ride a pony for 30 minutes. It is important that you consult the specifications of each activity with your vacation planner.

Can we participate in multiple activities in one day?

Yes, since we have a wide variety of activities and times available, our guests can do several activities during the day. A very popular itinerary is: tennis, clay pigeon shooting, or horseback riding in the morning, and, in the afternoon, enjoying the spa, the beach, or Altos de Chavón.

Are there any activities available for families during bad weather or rainy days?

Of course! During rainy days we place table games in the reading room. You can also choose to visit the spa to enjoy various beauty and wellness treatments.

Are there any extra fees or charges associated with certain activities?

Regularly the activities include the equipment that is required. Some exceptions include Buggies and Zipline, for which you can purchase optional goggles or bandanas directly at the point of departure. There are also additional charges if you want to extend the hours of any activity, add food or drinks not included during the Catalina Tour, or if you make changes not covered in the cancellation policies.

Are there any nearby attractions or points of interest for families to visit?

Casa de Campo Resort is located on a property of more than 7,000 acres, where the only thing you will need is time to enjoy it all. Within our property, you can do countless activities such as tennis, clay pigeon shooting, horseback riding, the best golf courses, including Teeth of the Dog®, #1 in the Caribbean, a complete Spa and Wellness center, and more. If you want to know more about the Dominican Republic, excursions to Santo Domingo, Cueva de las Maravillas, and the Artisanal Cigar Factory are available, as well as buggies and ziplining for the more adventurous.

What information do I need to provide to rent a boat?
