Shooting FAQ's

What is Sport Shooting?

Sport shooting (Clay, Trap and Skeet) has gained popularity among hunting groups as game preserves and individual hunters are becoming more conservation-minded. In sporting clays, marksmen forgo live quarry and test their skills by shooting clay targets that replicate the actual flight of live game.

How did this sport start?

Many years ago, live game was killed for sustenance. Today shooting for food is no longer necessary. Shooting and hunting has been a hobby enjoyed by royalty for centuries and has become a popular tradition among wealthy families in the Dominican Republic, and their Latin neighbors as well. They frequent Casa de Campo’s Shooting Centre for practice and as participants in tournaments throughout the year highlighted by the Resorts’ exclusive Sugar Invitational each Spring.

What is unique about the Casa de Campo Shooting Centre?

  • It has one of the tallest towers in the world.
  • The centre spans 245-acres, and has plenty of room to grow.
  • The wonderful weather in the Dominican Republic allows shooters, and those new to the sport, year round access to hone their skills.

How can I begin to shoot?

A team of instructors offers basic shooting orientation for all ages and more advanced instruction if requested. Private lessons range in price. Call the Shooting Centre for details.

Can I rent equipment?

Gun rental and ammunition are included in your round of clay shooting.

Who Can Shoot?

One of the great things of this sport is that everyone can shoot!
