## Frequently Asked Questions

**Q: What makes Altos de Chavón different from other places in Casa de Campo?**
A: Altos de Chavón stands out because it is a 16th-century Mediterranean-style village in the heart of the Dominican countryside, built as a cultural center inside Casa de Campo. The mix of artist studios, shops, an art gallery, an archaeological museum, St. Stanislaus Church, and a 5,000-seat theater gives it more range than a typical sightseeing stop. It also overlooks the Chavón River and the Caribbean Sea, which is why it works for both casual visits and events.

**Q: Can you hold weddings or group events at Altos de Chavón?**
A: Altos de Chavón is set up for events, not just sightseeing. The page calls it a backdrop for weddings, concerts, celebrations, groups, and meetings, with especially strong settings in the stone church and the amphitheater. That matters because the village combines old-world architecture with open views of the river, so event planners get both atmosphere and flexibility. For planning details, the page points to [View Groups & Meetings](/groups/) and [View Weddings](/weddings/).

**Q: How far in advance do I need to request a photo shoot at Altos de Chavón?**
A: Photo sessions must be authorized by reservation at least 72 hours in advance, and requests are only processed during business hours. The office accepts requests Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with no processing on Sundays or holidays. That timing matters because approvals are tied to availability, and the page also says photo sessions are authorized exclusively for Altos de Chavón.

**Q: What are the photo shoot fees at Altos de Chavón?**
A: The fee depends on residency: foreign residents pay US $275.00 and local residents pay US $200.00, with taxes included. Payment can be made in cash in USD or RD$ at the current exchange rate, or by valid credit card using Visa, Mastercard, or Amex. The page also says payment can be made at the cashier at the Altos de Chavón main entrance on the day of your visit, by pre-deposit or bank transfer, or at the Casa de Campo Owners Club office.

**Q: Can I bring a drone or use St. Stanislaus Church for photos?**
A: Drone use is restricted and needs to be requested in advance so Security can process any required permits; if approved, there is an additional US$400.00 fee. St. Stanislaus Church is not available for photoshoots, and authorizations are issued only for Altos de Chavón itself, not the central area of the hotel or any other area of Casa de Campo. That makes planning important if your shoot depends on specific backdrops or aerial shots.
