Flavors of the World Venezuela

Carlos García and Santiago Gómez take the best of their gastronomic style to Casa de Campo

On this special weekend, two Latin American chefs will join forces in order to bring us the best of Venezuelan and Mexican cuisine. Carlos García and Santiago Gómez are two chefs that have in common a respectful approach to their gastronomic origins and the use of fresh ingredients in their preparations.

Carlos García is the co-owner and chef Alto Restaurant in Caracas, a place where his proposal of contemporary Venezuelan cuisine combines the interpretation of a territory through edible metaphors, direct links with local producers, and a constant inquiry into the culinary repertoire of the country. In 2007, the Venezuelan Academy of Gastronomy awarded him the “Tenedor de Oro” as Chef of the Year, and when the prestigious list The World’s 50 Best premiered its Latin American chapter in 2013, Alto won as the best restaurant in Venezuela occupying position #25.

After graduating from top culinary academies in Mexico and Spain, Santiago Gómez has been going back and forth between Miami and Mexico City, developing the kitchens of NOBU, Cantina La 20, Tacology, SUD777, and Daniel. Cantina has been declared as “Best Mexican Restaurant in Miami New Times”, “Best Mexican Restaurant in Zagat”, “Best Latin Restaurant in Zagat”, and “31 Best Mexican Restaurant in America by Thrillist”, while Tacology was recently named “Best Restaurant in Miami 2017 by Zagat”.
