Get to know the newest Film Career in Altos de Chavón School

Altos de Chavón is mostly known for being a Mediterranean-like villa right in the heart of Casa de Campo, with a world-famous amphitheater that has hosted unforgettable concerts. But also, this quaint little town is home to Altos de Chavón School of Design, a place that has been a pioneer in art and design education in the country for more than three decades and it’s currently one of the most renowned schools of its kind in the world.

Last February, the school started a new two-year college level program in Film at their campus in La Romana, featuring an in-depth vision of the process of creating audiovisual productions both in theoretical and practical forms. Students will have the opportunity to learn from local and international teachers in immersive workshops and through creative research and experimentation. “The main requirement to study film at Chavón is to love cinema passionately,” says Tanya Valette, former Director of the International Film and TV School of San Antonio de los Baños and current Director of the Film career at Chavón.

Although the first generation of film students has not finished the program yet, the school was recently selected as a Stellar Film School by Variety Magazine, a leading publication in the entertainment industry, alongside big players such as the NYU, Stanford, London University and more.

For those who wish to enroll in the second installment of the Film Program, admissions are open for September 2018 at La Romana Campus. However, if you want to specialize in specific areas of film for a short period of time, you can take advantage of the school’s Continuing Education and International Summer programs covering a range of topics from cinematography, editing, sound recording, screenwriting, animation, art direction, and much more.
